Site analysis focuses the design effort before it even gets started and provides a detailed understanding of the site’s surrounding context, its landform, soils, hydrology, vegetation, solar exposure, significant features, utilities, attractive or objectionable views, development restrictions, proximity to abutting development, transportation systems, etc.  A code review of applicable by-laws, development standards and environmental regulations identifies additional factors that may influence the design.
